Homosexual Activist's Goal: Render the Bible Hate Speech!

Hat Tip: The Real Deal!

"South Wales police admitted evangelical Christian Stephen Green was then charged purely because his pamphlets contained anti-gay quotations from the Bible.

Mr Green faces a court appearance today charged with using 'threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour' after his attempt to distribute the leaflets at the weekend 'Mardi Gras' event in Cardiff.

A spokesman for the police said the campaigner had not behaved in a violent or aggressive manner, but that officers arrested him because 'the leaflet contained Biblical quotes about homosexuality'.

...The leaflets were headed Same-Sex Love - Same-Sex Sex: What does the Bible Say?, and included a series of quotations from the 1611 King James Bible, a text usually regarded as one of the foundation stones of the English language.

Aimed at demonstrating Biblical disapproval of homosexual sex, they included from the Old Testament Leviticus 18.22, 'Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination'.

The leaflets also quoted Romans 1:25-27 from the New Testament, to the effect that homosexuals are given to 'vile affections'.

The handbills urged homosexuals to 'turn from your sins and you will be saved'.

The charge against Mr Green is that he used 'threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby', contrary to the Public Order Act 1986."

...Colin Hart of the Christian Institute think tank said: 'This was a very gentle leaflet. There was no use of words like "perversion". I have to wonder if churches, bishops and archbishops are now vulnerable to arrest for their views on homosexuality.

'It is noticeable that police never arrest Muslims who make remarks about homosexuality. They pick on Christians because it is easy, just as they pick on middle class drivers for speeding because it is easier than catching burglars.'
bold is mine.

The out and proud homosexual activist's cry for tolerance is pure crap!

The gay people didn't arrest Mr. Green, the police did. I don't know, something like this seems fishy to me. Either we haven't heard the entire story, or the police were being overreactant. The "gay agenda" has nothing to do with it.

What's your point about the quote anyway? Conservatives would be happy to claim the same thing. Change the sides around, and it sounds exactly like someone from the other side would say, and yet I doubt you would be offended by it in that context.

It is DL, if I remember, that painted the Hitler mustache on Wayne Beson. (by the way, don't like...9 year olds do that when they're angry at their teacher?), and something about you makes me think you are probably fine with that. That is quite politically incorrect in itself, isn't it?

It's about time they start calling the Bible "hate speech" - wonder what took them so long? The whole entire thing is full of hateful, judgmental and intolerant statements. God is just a big fat meanie.

This is the same Stephen Green who is suing the BBC and the Cambridge Theatre in London for 'blasphemy.' He is happy to try and stop other's freedom of speech, but when his is stopped, then it is a problem!

I don't think we have the whole story here. It sounds a bit ridiculous to me if he was arrested for just handing out leaflets. It will be interesting when someone publishes those leaflets of his to see what the big deal is about.
And I personally have no problem whatsoever with people handing out leaflets. I go out of my way (and it drives my partner crazy) to get these leaflets and see what they say. There are always groups of people handing these out on various street corners. They are usually harmless drivel from people who usually have not read the Bible.

To equate Besen with Hitler is both ridiculous and shows that someone has not read their history...

Hitler got a nation to round up and systematically slaughter people he hated. Now when Besen puts out the call to all his 'homosexual soldiers' to start rounding up the heterosexual radical right and putting them in concentration camps for mass slaughter(or if he even plans on doing this), then someone can compare him to Hitler. Otherwise it is just plain ridiculous and laughable. Well, it really isn't laughable but sad.

Hi Mark,

Just wanted to come over and say thanks so much for the words of encouragement at my blog! I really appreciated that! It's so refreshing to have a post from a friend when in the midst of so many ideological battles!

God bless you!

Debra, again, why blame the gay people? It wasn't gay people who arrested the men, it was overreactive police. Gay people don't just decide who gets arrested.

I don't see the problem of a science teacher going through a sex-change operation. These are high-school students, not elementary or early middle school students who could get confused about the whole affair. No 16 year old is suddenly going to get GID. By the way, Contrary to your commentary, Debra, having GID is not a choice, though how you deal with it is. I doubt anyone ever says "I'd LOVE to be uncomfortable with my own gender!"

The point is, your supposed to be respectful, and politically correct, in school. Saying anything other than Mrs. is going to cause disruption.

Look, it didn't ask the kids to condone what the teacher is doing. They are asking them to be respectful, mind their own business, and realize who is in charge in the classroom. It's not like he's going to be talking about his sex-change operation 24/7.

And many sensitive boys and tomboy girls do have GID, Debra. They can't say sensitive boys and tomboy girls DON'T because some DO. Get it?

Speaking of which, the cure for GID right now considered by leading medical institutions is sex change.

You seem to be in this mind-set that says "transgendered people = kid unfriendly". Again, you forget these are highschoolers, and 2, yes, they have no right to say anything disrespectful to him. He is their teacher.

You know, Debra, deoression is a disorder that causes distress and impairment in social and occupational situations. Do you believe that they should fire all teachers dealing with depression?

Debra,
thank you! You are right on!
There is no doubt that they want to criminalize Christianity.

God Bless!

Christine,
You are an inspiration!, Thank you!

Where the heck did you get this idea? You take a moment where the police were overeactant in South Wales, and you act like all the gay people are out to get you.

That, and think about it like this. I don't know about the laws of protest in the UK, but I doubt that they are as lax as the ones here in the US. Also realize that, well, there just isn't that much of an anti-gay movement in the UK. There are homophobic people, for sure, but generally, each side keeps to their business and don't interfere with the rights of others. This protest might become quite shocking to people in the UK, just because, well, it's just not that much of an issue to them. I have a friend who moved to England about 2 years ago, on which he commented "people just really don't freak out about politics like Americans do." Perhaps police haven't dealt with this before. It's a shame that so many people are ready to tack all their blame on gay people when something doesn't go their way.

every year, there are crazy evangelists who walk up and down the campus of the university of oklahoma who hand out lots of scary Biblical rhetoric. they scream at students walking to class telling them that they are going to hell, they call the females who walk by whores, and they love to make generalities about all of the students who go to public universities.

what is refreshing is that for every nutjob out there preaching their insane rhetoric, there are about 20 or 30 kids surrounding them with their Bibles open, continuously offering counter-verses or arguments against what these guys are doing or saying. its good to know that people keep their head on straight.

i would like to point out that these guys called me evil to my face. they condemned me to hell, even though they knew nothing about me. as a 6'3", 300 pound man, it took everything i had to keep myself from removing the lower jaws of these men's faces, but i knew they had every right to say what they wanted to me. and people on this blog would be glad to know that they spouted lots and lots of anti-gay rhetoric. but they were never arrested. they were even protected by police. i considered these guys to be completely crazy and insanely hypocritical, but they have never been arrested, and they have been welcome every year, and every year they come back.

so dont get on your pity-potty too much. ive been completely humiliated and damned by Christian protesters or evangelicals, and they come back every year, unharmed and free to do so.

..and yet another example of the tender tolerant love that homosexual activists enjoy spreading. no thanks anonymous ;)

jas,
and they love to make generalities about all of the students who go to public universities.

I caution you my friend, not to make the same generalities with christians. From what you've said, you would then have to agree: There are many so called 'christains' that sit in church every Sunday that remain an enemy of God, including homosexual affirming clergy. If I was your size, I probably would have taken that liberty of ..:)just kidding, you did the right thing by not relocating anyones jaw.

"The point is, your supposed to be respectful, and politically correct, in school."

Why? Where does that get us?

"even though they knew nothing about me. as a 6'3", 300 pound man, it took everything i had to keep myself from removing the lower jaws of these men's faces,"

That's exactly how I feel about most liberals.

"Speaking of which, the cure for GID right now considered by leading medical institutions is sex change."

Bullshit. Even if it were true, that is less than comforting to know that with AIDS and cancer still running rampant that doctors would be busy "curing" a made up disease with gender transformation. The disease isn't GID. Its something much worse.

"and they love to make generalities about all of the students who go to public universities."

Sounds like you're generalizing those who generalize. We all have experiences of our own we can share, very different from yours. They carry little weight in a debate like this.

Josiah said...

Mark, how the hell do you know he was a homosexual activist? Now who's making generalities?

Highboy, you must always be polite and politically correct when dealing with teachers. We can't have students bad mouthing to the people teaching them science, bothering them about their personal lives.

GID isn't a disease, Highboy. It's a disorder. One that is quite a bit easier to clear up then others. Of course, you obviously think you'd know better than every major psychological and medical organization in the country.

Mark said...

Mark, how the hell do you know he was a homosexual activist?

how the hell do you know 'he' is not? plus 'he' used bad words, so I prejudged 'him'. I love being prejudice.

Josiah said...

He sounds like an angry fratboy more than anything else, though, Mark. Why not just delete the comment instead of using it as an excuse to say something about gay people?

highboy said...

"Of course, you obviously think you'd know better than every major psychological and medical organization in the country"

You will now prove that EVERY major psychological and medical organization make this assertion won't you? Thanks so much.

Josiah said...

No, Highboy, I won't, because I don't post here anymore. I believe American Psychologist's Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Physciatric Association will suffice. Seriously, I'm not wating my time going to every medical associations area, because mostly if you've seen 3 or 4, you've seen them all, and I'm not going to be wasting my time posting on a blog I decided not too to try to appease you of all people.

Mark said...

No, Highboy, I won't, because I don't post here anymore.

is reality a hard thing for you to grasp? :)

...ah first skin loss. we are even. next week, one of us wins..:)

You asked for an explanation. I provided it. Stop being smug about it. Seriously, it's a shame that the only thing you can think about is "winning."

You know, if people keep making smug, nasty, and/or rude comments to mine, I'm going to be here much longer than I expected too. >.>

Josiah, thanks for not posting any links with peer reviewed papers to back up your ridiculous claims.

Josiah said...

Check the sites, then, Highboy. Those ARE the leading medical associations (well, on mental health and the like), and I can assure you all have taken a more pro-gay stance than you would have liked.
